Ok. I went to the court house this morning and talked to the receptionist in the Judge's office. I explained our situation and she had me fill out a paper stating why I wouldn't be able to serve. She told me that if I didn't get a letter excuseing me from jury duty, then I needed to come up to the court house on June 5th and talk to the judge in person and explain the situation to him. Fingers crossed I get a letter in the mail, and if I don't, he understands and lets me off. Thanks for all the advice. I will keep everyone posted. Blessings!!!

Hi,
MoonwatersDon't be too upset, I have been called to jury duty twice and both times I was excused. The first time I lived in Texas and I had just come home from having my fourth baby and that did it right there. The second time was just about two years ago here in the state of Oklahoma. I wrote a letter stating why I could not serve and then I took the letter to the courthouse and ended up seeing a judge in his own chambers and he read the letter, talked with me very briefly, signed a paper and I was done.
Now to be fair, my reasons were different: My daughter had just been ill several months & died the previous christmas day, my son was stationed in Iraq & had been home on an emergency leave, and I was trying to finish that year of homeschooling and could not serve days in court and still be within the legal limits of days in school.
BUT ... my point is - the judge was very nice and everything was pretty low key, except for me. Like you, I was freaking out. But in just a matter of a few minutes, it was over and I was free. I really believe that you will be just fine. Oklahoma is a great state for putting children and parents first. Their homeschooling laws have proved that. Please let me know how it goes.
Blessings.
